CIVIL WAR WEAPONRY

MUSKTS

The Springfield model 1861 was the first mass produced rifled musket shoulder gun for the military and widely used in the north over 1 million was manufactured.
For the south, their was the Fayetteville rifle coped after the Springfield also their was the m1841, Mississippi owner  Eli Whitney hired Tomasas Warner from Springfield to help with the production.

CARBINES

The sharp military carbine was one of the fist cartridge rifles, made in the late 1860's and used by both sides and it was good for cavalry and it was a vary popular almost over 90,000 were made.
The Burnside carbine also one of the first rifles with cartridges, it was produced in 1858-1870, both sides used this gun and over 100,000were made.

CANNONS

The 10-pounder Parrott rifle was invented by Robert Parker Parrott. He also made different types that were 10 to 300 pounds. The Parrott had a poor reputation and was not really used by many artillerymen.  The twelve-pound cannon aka the "Napoleon" was the most popular cannon used in the war.  Other cannons were hard to move on some of the grounds.
REVOLVERS

The Colt .44-caliber "Army" Model was the most used revolver in the Civil War.  It was a side arm for cavalry, infantry, artillery troops and naval forces.  It was a six-shot weapon that fired round lead balls.  The Remington Model 1858 was also used during the Civil War and marked the beginning or medium and large frame percussion revolvers.  It was more expensive than the Colt Revolver, only by 50 cents.  However, that difference was a lot at that time.  The Remington was a six-chamber weapon and required dropping in a powder charge, then loading each round ball individually.

HAND GRENADES

These were a very crude form of this weapon.  It included a ball where the powder was stored with an igniter at the end.  A fin was attached to make the ball hit the group first in order to make it ignite.  The picture shown is of a Union grenade that was used in the Battle of Vicksburg.
